Just needed to work off some of the rough edges I guess. Regardless, the quaility of the ring is first rate. I bought this ring, rather than a cheaper one, because it had beveled edges. I had a cheaper ring without beveled edges and anytime I accidently ran the ring over something, like a wooden banister, it would scratch it. It also bothered my adjoining fingers if I was gripping anything. Neither of these problems occur with this ring.
